Quail Hill Trail is a popular spot to get your walking/hiking in but it's also a beautiful place for family portraits. We took shelter from the sun in the first location until sunset when the light wasn't so harsh and then went to the trail to finish the session.
This session was so much fun! The love and joy in this family are infectious. You can tell they all have fun together and it was a beautiful thing to capture.
One of my favorite things to do during family portraits is to ask them to look at the person who describes a phrase or word, like who is the loudest, then everyone looks at that person and laughs. It's always an excellent icebreaker and gets everyone relaxed.
Another simple thing I ask my clients after I grab a nice-smiling-while-looking-at-me shot is to look at each other. For couples, laughter is usually the first thing, but then it turns romanticly sweet. For siblings and parents, laughter is always first as well, but you have to be ready and quick to get that sweet moment.
This Quail Hill family portrait session had so much joy and laughter that it was truly a highlight in all the sessions I've done.
